If you’re a girl…birth control clears you up in an instant (orthotricycline).
If not, there’s a product sold at your local Sally Beauty Supply store called Purist. I’ve seen people with cystic acne…the worst kind…seek relief with this product. I have used Proactiv in the past, it does work very well…my only problem was that for the first month of using it, my face broke out horribly…I guess it was bringing everything to the surface before getting rid of it.
However, this Purist stuff, clears you right away. each item costs from 7 to 9 dollars a bottle. You typically need about 4 products. There’s the cleanser, scrub, toner and lotion…the mask is optional, and ALL can be purchased separately.
Good luck…oh by the way, if you try the product and don’t like it…you can return it and get your money back…so long as it’s not half gone and you have the receipt.
It’s AMAZING and works instantly, so I doubt you’ll have to worry about that…but I just thought I’d ease any worries you may have of being stuck with something that you may not like.Oooh, also, they have a skin lightening cream in case you have any scars. I used it on mine and they faded in about 2 weeks. The stuff is awesome.

Be careful to whom you listen. It is not caused by chocolate candy or tomato’s or anything you eat. Washing our face a hundred times a day just dries out your skin. It is caused by heredity. Bacteria, known as Propionibacterium acnes, is a normal inhabitant of the skin. It uses sebum as a nutrient for growth, and therefore increases in follicles during puberty. People with acne have more Propionibacterium acnes in their follicles than people without acne. The presence of bacteria attracts white blood cells to the follicle. These white blood cells produce an enzyme that damages the wall of the follicle, allowing the contents of the follicle to enter the dermis. This process causes an inflammatory response seen as papules (red bumps), pustules, and nodules. The bacteria also cause the formation of free fatty acids, which are irritants, increasing the inflammatory process in the follicle.
The washes you see really do little if anything but you can try Accutane (keeping in mind there have been problems with it-mental problems and suicide).
Antibiotics work by several mechanisms. The most important is the decrease in the number of bacteria in and around the follicle. Antibiotics also work by reducing the irritating chemicals produced by white blood cells.
Finally, antibiotics reduce the concentration of free fatty acids in the sebum, also reducing the inflammatory response. The most frequently used antibiotics for acne are: Tetracycline, Erythromycin, Minocycline, Doxycycline and Clindamycin.
The only other thing “I” would recommend is Retin-A and it is not going to do what you want it to do. However, trust me when I say these washes do and can not work!
Consumer report along with the “New England Medicial Journal” have glowing remarks about a product called “Proactiv”.
The best thing you could do is see a dermatologist. God bless you and the Southern People.

One of the best ways to treat acne is to kill the bacteria that causes inflammation and clogged pores. acne bacteria are anaerobic which means they thrive in an environment without oxygen and die when exposed to oxygen. With the right kind of combination of ingredients and molecules that are small enough to carry oxygen deep into your pores you can destroy the bacteria before they cause acne. Prevention is the key to clear skin. http://cgarcia1.qhealthbeauty.com/products/product.aspx?itemno=701940

Acne is a very individual problem. What works for some doent not work for others. I have heard people say great things about “Proactive”, but it didnt work for me. I have tried so many things but nothing seems to work (for me). Ive only gotten it in the last two years – I am 29! Im looking at something at the moment that sound quite good and it maybe could work. No pills or topicals. Its called acne free in 3 days. if you type that into google you will find it. I am going to do it in about 2 weeks when I get holidays so Ill let you know

First off you need to decide for yourself how severe your acne is. If it is truly severe you need to see a dermatologist for proper treatment. There are many new prescription treatments out there that are not as harsh as the old stand-by Accutane. If this is a not so severe a case you can go about this in a few ways.
Ask yourself this:
1. Are you washing your face morning and night?
2. Are you using a moisturizer for your skin type?(oil-free)
3. Are you washing your bedding frequently? If you answered yes to all those, read on. If not you need to reexamine your regime, your problem could be very simple!
In my own personal experience, I was told and read some bad things about Proactiv. It can bleach and discolor your towels and pillows. Not only that but they put you on a re-ordering system. They will ship products to you if you’re ready for them or not. I decided for my own problem, not to go this route.
Since I work at a department store in cosmetics, I was told to try Clinique acne products. They work, they’re cheaper that Proactiv, and they dont bleach anything. You start with the foaming cleanser at night. It removes dirt, oil, make-up, and has treatment in it. They have an anti-bacterial soap, to kill the acne causing bacteria that lives on everyones skin. Its not harsh at all. They have a great daytime moisturizer as well. The Night Treatment gel is awesome. It treats existing acne, clears up skintone, keeps pores clear, and helps stop sebum (oil) production. They also have an Emergency gel lotion which is a targeted treatment for individual pimples. I would suggest Clinique to you because it is fragrance-free and made for sensitive skin, as well as dermatologist tested.
I would recommend that you go speak to a Clinique beauty advisor to see how you would fit into the regime. Depending on how severe your acne is, you may not have to use all those products I listed, you may only need one! After using their products for a few months, my problems cleared up!
You also need to check everything that you’re using on your face. Does it say oil-free? Is it non-communigenic? Is it meant to really be used on your face or on your body? Is it dermatologist tested? This may seem silly, but you’d be surprised by the things Ive heard over the years!
Another thing that will help is the sun. Believe it or not. Vitamins C and D will also help to clear up troubled skin. Now I am NOT suggesting baking your face in the sun for 3 hours by anymeans. While wearing an SPF lotion that is oil-free, go in the sun for 5 to 10 minutes. Dermatologists will tell you to do this as well.
Good luck, and if you’re EVER in doubt of anything PLEASE, PLEASE CONSULT A DERMATOLOGIST! There is alot of bad advice on the internet about everything, so just remember that if it sounds too good to be true; IT IS!

I suggest you to go for natural one; others definitely have side effects. A good face pack of neem leaves with a pinch of turmeric is also very good for acne prone skin. More home remedies available at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
