How long does it take for acne scars to form?

I was wondering how long it takes for pit acne scars to form after the original acne is gone. Is it right away or does it take a significant period of time?

You’ll notice a red or brown scar right away, if there is going to be one. Some people don’t develop the deep, pitted scarring at all.. and if you do it can take years for the red mark to fade and become an actual scar. It all depends on your skin type.
